The flood made it necessary to lay out a new access route to the Alpeiner Ferner.
Current access is as follows: at the signpost turn left over the bridge, then follow the stream towards the glacier. The sparse red dots serve as rough orientation.
Due to the glacier retreat, major rockfall problems have arisen at the Turmscharte. We have cleared away loose rock as far as possible and necessary. The newly installed abseil route makes it possible to reach the glacier at a less dangerous spot.
