I was able to observe a great many slab avalanche releases! All the slabs were triggered by wet loose-snow avalanches. What gives me some cause for concern is the fact that even very small loose-snow slides triggered slab avalanches. All the slab avalanches observed released in the southern half, mainly in very steep terrain of 35° to 39° or in extremely steep terrain over 40°. The elevation lies between 2200m and 2700m. All the slabs have one thing in common: the old snowpack from late autumn/early winter served as the sliding surface! In addition, the new, relatively small avalanche deposits all lie on top of old avalanches, so there had already been releases from the same starting zones earlier.

After wind gusts of over 100 km/h around 11.2., an on-site inspection was due. Unfortunately, the picture today is completely different from before 10.02.
